Hello!
Hello! My name’s Claire and for the past (nearly) ten years I’ve blogged sporadically here, dabbled in Booktube, reviewed everything I’ve read on Goodreads here, tweeted from here, and instagrammed from here. Books have always been a massive part of my life, and whilst I love Booktube whole-heartedly, I haven’t quite got the nerve to make videos again (after nearly an 8 year break).
On this blog, you’ll find the usual bookish things: reviews, recommendations, prize list commentaries, and readathon musings. During these uncertain times I’ve found myself turning to books, and the book community more than ever. I took part in @Book Roast’s OWLs Magical Readathon this April, and am currently having a lot of fun throwing myself into planning my TBRs (to-be-read) for the Believathon and Make Your Myth-Taker readathons that are coming up over the next couple of months.
A bit about me: I’m in my mid-twenties and live in Oxfordshire, though I’m originally from Yorkshire (and will tell this to anyone I meet). As well as reading, I love walking, coffee, talking, cooking (I’m a coeliac so food and I have a fraught relationship) and wine. I work in academic publishing, and spend my commute reading (or, at the moment, a sit on my sofa with a coffee and a book) and thrust books on any of my friends and colleagues who will let me. I have far too many unread books (more on that later) and am part of four book clubs (oops). You’ll find me mainly reading fantasy, science fiction, literary fiction, and romance. The only genre I’ve not really dabbled in is crime, but that does seem to be changing due to book club picks! I simply refuse to limit myself to one book, but my favourite authors are: Robin Hobb, Erin Morgenstern, Anne Brontë, Jessie Burton, Jessica Andrews and Kiran Millwood-Hargrave.
As well as wanting to write more in-depth reviews, and muse on the current industry trends, I thought this blog would be a great place to engage with the book community more, and work out whether I have anything of note to say (most likely, not!).
Feel free to follow me on any of my social media, and leave a comment below saying hello, if you wish!
